Question by Michelle: Ceiling fan light doesnt work....(its not the bulbs its the pull chain) How to fix?
Our ceiling fan worked great last month. we often run the fan but keep the ligth off till dark, using the pull chain to turn it on and off. Now when the fan is on and the switch is on on the wall...the light wont work. pulling on the chain doesnt result in the familiar click that turns the light on....why doesnt it click on anymore? What can we do to fix it ourselves? any help is great! we miss the light at suppertime!

Before doing anything make sure the power is off to the fan/light. The problem is the switch that is located inside the housing. Depending on what type of fan it is usually the light kit is held on by 3 screws. Remove these screws and you will see a small switch that is attached to the pull chain for the light. Remove the wire nuts and remove the lock nut that holds the switch to the housing and take it to the hardware store or Home Depot and you can buy a new one for a few dollars.
